Black women deserve clarity.

The Black Girl Caucus (BGC) 2026 Candidate Scorecard is a tool designed to help our community better understand where candidates stand on the issues shaping Black women’s lives—from economic stability to healthcare access to our democratic future.

This scorecard reflects BGC’s commitment to informed participation, not political endorsements. It is one of the ways we support Black women in navigating the political landscape with confidence, context, and care.

Our Approach

The Black Girl Caucus believes that when Black women have access to clear, credible information, we build power: individually and collectively.

This scorecard is part of BGC’s broader effort to support political participation that is intentional, values-driven, and rooted in community voice.

Methodology

  • The BGC Candidate Scorecard is developed using a transparent and consistent framework.

  • Candidates are invited to respond to a standardized questionnaire aligned with BGC’s issue priorities.

  • Responses are reviewed using a shared rubric to ensure consistency across races.

  • When candidates do not submit responses, publicly available statements, voting records, and policy positions are reviewed where relevant.

  • Multiple reviewers assess each candidate to minimize bias and ensure a balanced evaluation.

  • The scorecard reflects alignment with BGC’s values and priorities at this moment in time and may be updated as additional information becomes available.
