BGC MISSION
The Black Girl Caucus (BGC) is an initiative designed to connect, uplift, and amplify the voices of Black women. No matter your sphere of influence, you belong here. Whether we lead from the front, strategize behind the lines, or simply exist in our power, we are a force.
BGC is a sisterhood, a bedrock, and a foundation.
Together, we find strength, stand in our power, and build pathways for the future.
We are the Black Girl Caucus.

OUR STORY
The 2024 election wasn’t just politics—it was personal.
It was a gut punch. A reminder that for all we give, Black women are still expected to lead from behind.
We showed up—again. We donated, we organized, we turned out in record numbers. But when decisions were made, our voices were sidelined. Our priorities ignored. It wasn’t just a loss—it was a dismissal. And for many of us, that was the breaking point.
That moment sparked something bigger than one campaign or one disappointment.
It made us ask: What if we stopped waiting to be seen and chose each other instead?
Black Girl Caucus is our answer.
A place where strategy lives alongside joy.
Where power isn’t extracted from us—it’s invested in us.
Where we build with, and for, each other.
We didn’t create this space to ask for permission.
We created it because we’re done asking.
This isn’t about being invited to someone else’s table—it’s about owning the room, the mic, and the agenda.
Because BGC is for every Black woman, whether she walks into a boardroom, a union hall, or a group chat—she belongs here. However she shows up, she shows up powerful.
Sasha Legette helped shape this space, but BGC isn’t about any one leader. Her work—from the courtroom to the classroom—reflects the kind of commitment it takes to build something for the long haul. Still, this isn’t her story alone. This is ours. Black women built this—together—for each other.
We choose us.
And choosing each other changes everything.
