OUR FOUNDER

SASHA  L. LEGETTE
FOUNDER & POWER BUILDER

Sasha Legette doesn’t just talk about building power for Black women—she’s out here making it happen.

When election after election showed us Black women’s votes were welcome but our leadership wasn’t, Sasha had seen enough. She founded the Black Girl Caucus (BGC) because she knew it was past time to stop asking for permission and start claiming the power we’ve always deserved.

A proud alumna of Clark Atlanta University and the University of Georgia School of Law, Sasha cut her teeth teaching Federal Government at Tarrant County College, breaking down complex systems into practical tools for change. As founder and Executive Director of Pure Justice since 2015, she’s been leading the fight for meaningful criminal, juvenile, and social justice reforms, turning advocacy into action and policy into real-life impact.

From working on legislation in the Georgia State Senate to externships at the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, Sasha’s career is proof that Black women don’t just belong in politics—we’re essential to reshaping it.

At BGC, Sasha’s vision is crystal clear: create unapologetic political influence, nurture authentic leadership, and cultivate a welcoming, empowering space where Black women don’t just set the agenda—we run the entire show.
