Power in Practice - Politics & Policy

What happens after you cast your ballot? Elections determine who has the power to make decisions, but understanding how those decisions become policy is key to understanding the impact of your vote.

This session connects the dots between Election Day and everyday life. BGC Founder Sasha Legette will break down what different elected officials actually control, how decisions about issues like property taxes, education, budgets, and public services get made, and how politics ultimately becomes policy.

We’ll also explore how you can influence those decisions beyond Election Day, because voting is one way to use your power, but it isn’t the only one.
