In our first year, Black Girl Caucus brought Black women together, kicked off We Choose Us, and proved there’s real momentum behind building power with intention.

This year, we launched Black Girl Caucus.
In our very first year, we brought Black women together in a real way. We packed a room. We welcomed powerful voices like Ashley Etienne and the brilliant Tiffany Cross into conversation with our community. And we officially kicked off We Choose Us, our policy campaign grounded in the belief that when Black women choose each other, we change what’s possible.
Those moments mattered. They affirmed that there is energy, urgency, and appetite for a space that centers Black women’s voices, priorities, and leadership. They reminded us that this work is needed, and that people are ready to build it together.
And while those big moments were energizing and affirming, the year itself was…a lot.
Economic uncertainty, layoffs, and the rollback of DEI roles created real challenges for Black women across our community. In quieter moments, a few women reached out while navigating those realities.

What this year affirmed is what we already know to be true. Black women show up for each other. We share information, offer support, and refuse to let one another navigate uncertainty alone. Black Girl Caucus exists to honor and strengthen it.
To everyone who showed up to our launch, attended an event, shared our work, or helped spread the word: thank you. Your presence helped turn an idea into something real.

To everyone who contributed financially in our first year: thank you. Your generosity made it possible to launch, convene, and begin building this work with intention. We are deeply grateful for the trust you placed in us at the very beginning.

As we look ahead, we’re excited and clear. Black Girl Caucus will continue centering Black women, deepening We Choose Us, and creating spaces to connect, grow leaders, and build power together.
If you’ve been watching from the sidelines or joined us at a moment along the way, we invite you to take the next step. Consider becoming a member of Black Girl Caucus and growing with us as we move forward.
With my utmost gratitude,
Sasha
